SCPA Member Classifications

South Central Photographers Association of Wisconsin, Inc. Bylaws (adopted as of January 1, 2001)

5.1. Classifications

There shall be nine (9) classifications of membership: Life Member, Primary Individual Member, Active Individual Member, Aspiring Individual Member, Associate Individual Member, Firm Membership, Sustaining Individual Member, Institutional Membership and Student Individual Membership. The rights of the respective classifications of membership are as follows:
  1. Life Member.
    An honorary membership may be conferred upon an individual for services rendered to the photographic profession, or for any reason that may be deemed sufficient by the Board of Directors. He/she will receive the newsletter, may display the seal, vote and enter prints in competition.
  2. Primary Individual Member.
    The owner, or designated representative, of any firm or corporation engaged in professional photography. Primary Individual members must derive 50 percent, or more, or their earned income from these endeavors and maintain regular business hours, and satisfy Federal, State and local requirements for business. Membership in the Professional Photographers of America is mandatory for Primary Members. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, may display the seal, and may vote on matters of business of the Corporation.
  3. Active Individual Member.
    The owner, or designated representative, of any firm or corporation engaged in professional photography. Active Individual Members must be available for assignments on a regular basis and either apply 50 percent of time or derive 50 percent, or more, of their earned income from photography, and satisfy Federal, State, and local requirements for business. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, may display the seal, and may vote on matters of business of the Corporation.
  4. Aspiring Individual Member.
    The sincere and dedicated photographer who is building their business to qualify as an Active Individual Member. An individual may be an Aspiring Individual Member for up to three years. Extensions may be granted at the discretion of the Board. Aspiring Individual Members must satisfy Federal, State, and local requirements for business. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, but may not vote or display the seal.
  5. Associate Individual Member.
    A photographic employee, partner or spouse of an Active Individual Member. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, but may not vote or display the seal.
  6. Firm Membership.
    A Firm Membership will receive all the benefits that both Primary Individual and Associate Individual Memberships offer. There will only be one Primary Individual Member per studio. The studio's employees will be Associate Individual Members.
  7. Sustaining Individual Member.
    A manufacturer's representative of photographic supplies or equipment. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, may display the seal, but may not vote.
  8. Institutional Membership.
    The Institutional Membership category is for photographic instructors and administrators of a full time accredited photography school. This membership will cover all teachers and administrators directly involved with the photography program. Students do not qualify as members under the Institutional Membership category. He/she will receive the newsletter and may display the seal, but may not vote or enter prints in competition.
  9. Student Individual Membership.
    The Student Individual membership is for the sincere and dedicated student of a school holding our Institutional Membership. Student Members must satisfy the requirements set forth by their photography program as a full time student of photography. An individual may be a Student Member for up to three years. Extensions may be granted at the discretion of the Board. He/she will receive the newsletter and may enter prints in competition, but may not vote or display the seal.
